Farm Town Vs Farmville – A Side by Side Comparison – Read Down Farmville

February 12, 2010

There are 117 groups on Facebook dedicated to FarmVille, and another 106 groups dedicated to Farm Town. In these groups you can find groups of players that hate FarmVille, and a group of players that hate people who hate FarmVille (titled “Anti-FarmVille Groups Suck”). And of course there are groups dedicated to bashing both games and the people who play them.

As an objective player (I think) of both games, I am setting out to solve the age old question (tongue in cheek): Which is better? Farm Town or FarmVille?

Land Expansions:

Farm Town: When you reach Level 15 you can expand your farm using coins; at Level 25 you can expand to a 24 X 24 Farm. After that you can no longer expand, and there are no immediate plans to add more expansions.

FarmVille: Your level and number of neighbors dictate when you can expand, and expansions are few and far between. They also cost more. The 24 X 24 expansion is still locked for all players.

Decorations, Buildings, and Landscaping:

Farm Town: There are a lot of options for decorating your farm. You can create 3-D effects and elevation by using the decorations available. Simply, there is a lot more than you do with your farm on Farm Town. However, will all of those options, it is easy to run out of land very quickly.

FarmVille: There are options for decorating your farm, but many of them are purchased with FarmVille Cash (purchased with your very real money). In addition, what you see is what you get. You can’t use your creativity to create illusions of elevation, lakes, pools, etc.

Harvesting, Plowing, & Seeding:

Farm Town: You can hire other farmers to do your plowing and harvesting, thus saving a lot of time. Hiring others is also what makes the game very social and interactive. However, when you hire someone to plow for you, you give them a portion of any experience points earned. On the positive side, when you hire someone to harvest for you, you get 25% more profit.

FarmVille: You can’t hire others to harvest, plow, or seed for you.

Ribbons and Trophies:

Farm Town: When you achieve trophies you don’t earn coin, experience points, or gifts.

FarmVille: When you earn a ribbon you get experience points, coins, and sometimes gifts.

Animals:

Farm Town: You can’t harvest your animals for profit. Animals can be purchased with coin, or gifted.

FarmVille: You can harvest your animals for coin. Animals can be gifted, bought with coin, and 5 of the animals are only available for purchase with FarmVille Cash.

Movement of animals:

Farm Town: Animals roam your farm freely, unless you freeze them.

FarmVille: Animals have a small range of motion, unless you set them to stay.

Trees:

Farm Town: Trees are harvested for coin. There are 30 trees available. You can purchase 15 varieties using coin; the rest must be gifted to you by your neighbors.

FarmVille: Trees are harvested for coin. There are 19 trees available. 2 varieties must be purchased with FarmVille Cash, some must be gifted, and other purchased with coin.

Seeds:

Farm Town has 26 available seeds, but they are restricted for purchase per your level.

FarmVille has 43 seed varieties, but are also restricted for purchase per your level. One of the available seeds is only available through purchase with FarmVille Cash.

Social Interaction:

Farm Town: There is a lot of social interaction with 4 different areas to meet and chat (Marketplace, Real Estate Office, and The Inn). You also interact with others when you hire them to farm for you, or you farm their lands. If a neighbor or buddy is on their farm, there is a green circle by their name, and you can pop over for a chat.

FarmVille: There are no common areas, or places to meet and chat with other players. Messages are exchanged by posting a sign at your neighbors’ farms.

Ease of earning experience points, coins, and leveling up:

Farm Town: You can increase your coins and experience points by working for other farmers, so if you work hard, you can move up very quickly. You also earn coin by visiting your neighbors, and by watering their plants.

FarmVille: The lions-share of experience points and coin are earned by working on your own farm. You can earn a small amount of coin and experience points by helping your neighbors

Convenience Vehicles:

Farm Town: You can purchase convenience vehicles for plowing, seeding, and harvesting. Fuel is gifted to you by neighbors.

FarmVille: You can purchase convenience vehicles for plowing, seeding, and harvesting. However, in order to get the fuel for those vehicles you have to buy FarmVille Cash. A small amount of fuel accumulates over time, but it doesn’t get you very far.

Number of items that are purchased with coins versus FarmCash or FarmVille cash:

Farm Town: The majority of the items are free. Some of the buildings and decorations do require FarmCash.

FarmVille: Many of the items premium (cooler) items must be purchased with FarmVille Cash.

Fertilizing:

Farm Town: Not available

FarmVille: Available

Glitches:

Farm Town: Many of the bugs that result in getting booted (and losing points and coins) have been resolved. There is a “save” option that helps prevent loss, even if you are booted. If you save your changes, you can leave your farm and not lose your work.

FarmVille: There are still quite a few glitches that will cause you to freeze, and as a result lose your work. There is no “save” option, so you can’t do anything else until your avatar catches up with the farming.

Graphics:

While Farm Town graphics are more customizable, they are frequently considered inferior to FarmVille. Most players agree that FarmVille has better graphics.

Counter-Strike Source – Tips and Tricks For New Players

February 12, 2010

First off, it must be understood that in Counter-Strike: Source (CS), there are several different map types. These types are:

Bomb Map (de)

The Terrorist goal in a bomb map is to run to a specific location (marked on your map) and plant an explosive. The explosive is on a timer, so once it is planted, you must defend it until detonation.

The counter-terrorist goal on bomb maps is to prevent the terrorists from planting the bomb at all costs. This can be done by eliminating all of the terrorists, defusing the planted bomb, or (in some cases) defending the bomb site until time runs out.

Hostage Rescue (cs)

In hostage rescue maps, the primary goal for counter-terrorists is to rescue hostages captured and held by the Terrorists. You can also win by eliminating the terrorist team.

The Terrorist goal is to simply prevent the counter-terrorists from rescuing the hostages by eliminating them, or maintaining control of the hostages until time runs out.

Bomb Maps – Counter-Terrorist

As a counter-terrorist on bomb maps, your best bet (by far) is to eliminate the terrorist team before they can plant the bomb. Defusing the bomb makes you a sitting duck, and this is a situation you want to avoid. Keeping the terrorists looking to plant the bomb means you get to stay on the defensive, which gives you an advantage.

Bomb Maps – Terrorist

As a terrorist, your only goal is to completely overrun a bomb site. If you can not take control of a bomb site within the first 30 seconds, your team will likely lose the round. The best strategy is to rush everyone on a team except for 2 or 3 (tops) to a single site. The other few players will act as a distraction at the other site, so the counter-terrorists guarding it do not come in as re-enforcements.

Hostage Maps – Counter-Terrorist

I have found the best strategy to be spreading the team out and attacking from all angles. Coordinate a simultaneous attack if possible, but be sure nobody just “runs in, guns blazing,” because that technique almost guarantees death in a hostage map.

If one side of the attack manages to punch through and get inside the area under Terrorist control, the rest of the team should move to that area in order to assist the attack.

Hostage Maps – Counter-Terrorist

As terrorist, your only strategy here should be to sit and wait. Your goal is for them to come to you. Sit, Wait, and SHOOT!

Generic Tricks

Fake Reload

Shoot a round out of your pistol at the beginning of the match. When you think (or hear) an enemy nearby, switch to your pistol, press reload, and quickly switch back to your main rifle. Most enemies will jump out and attack when they hear the reload sound, because they think you are defenseless.

Strafe-shooting

This has become a staple of counter-strike over the past years, but some players do not quite understand it. If you are in a firefight at range, you can strafe-shoot to maintain accuracy but still make yourself a difficult target.

The way strafe-shooting is done is by pressing (or tapping) the strafe key to get your player moving and releasing it just as you begin to fire. Your player will continue to move for another step, but your shots will be accurate.

The AWP No-Scope

Many people have had problems with this, and it is really so simple. A No-Scope shot is when you shoot an opponent with a sniper rifle without using the scope. For all sniper rifles, the cross-hairs have been removed when you are not using the scope, and the weapons are incredibly inaccurate. This was done intentionally to force people to use the scopes on sniper rifles. The problem with the scope is that it is difficult to make short-range shots, and your player moves very slowly while looking through it, so you become an easy target. The solution to this is the No-Scope shot.

The No-Scope is done simply by pressing the right and left mouse buttons at the same time while your intended target is as close to the center of your aiming point as possible (you have to estimate this). The scope will pop up for a small fraction of a second, and your shot will be accurate.

Cornering

You will notice after playing Counter-Strike for a long time that most players follow very predictable patterns. Ammunition is expendable, and any of the rifles (AK-47, M4, etc.) will penetrate through about the first 3 inches of a corner. When approaching corners that likely have opponents on the other side, shoot the corner. You will often hit your enemies before they see you.

Starcraft 2 – Building the Impossible | Bleep Geek

February 12, 2010

Blizzard, makers of the World of Warcraft and Diablo video games, is truly taking its time with Starcraft 2, which has now been in production for over 4 years, fine tuning every aspect of the game play as if its livelihood depended upon it. “Why?” you ask, since Blizzard has 10 million monthly subscribers with Wow generating a staggering 120 million dollars… per month.

See, well first off Blizzard doesn’t rush anything when it comes to games, the company motto seems to be “It will be ready when its done”, something other game developers could learn from. Second, not the main reason but a big one Starcraft is practically the national sport of South Korea, they freakin’ love it! That’s why when the game is released to the world it will be first available in SK. But mainly I say blizzard is building the impossible is because when this game goes live it will have more people playing it than in the history of gaming! With that kind of pressure everything must be perfect and balanced as to make all the hardcore players that will play the game a 100+ hours happy.

With the release of Starcraft 2 Blizzard is also implementing a new and improved version of Battle.net. One of the main features of the improved battle.net is that the player will be able to chat with his/her friends while they are playing other blizzard games. Very cool stuff, that’s all for now be sure to check out my site for more gaming news, reviews, and rants.

Copy PC Games – Tips on How to Make Working PC Game Backups

February 12, 2010

Copying PC games is one of the oldest forms of backups. Before, most consoles games came on cartridges that made copying them pretty much impossible. But since PC games have come on CDs and DVDs for years, making a backup of them has also been a possibility.

However, the game makers have gotten more and more savvy about encrypting them. This means it is almost impossible to make a working copy of a PC game unless you know the secrets. The following tips will get you up to speed and show just how easy it can be to backup your favorite games.

Before I go any further, I should point out you do not need any special hardware or DVDs to make great backups. In fact, I will show you a way to save money when it is time to burn the games to disc. Additionally, you don’t need to modify your computer like you do when you copy some console games.

Actually, all that you need to make working copies is the right software.

This is the number one reason why people’s games do not work when they back them up. PC games, as I have mentioned, have been copied for years. If you own the game, you are able to make a backup of it. But there are people out there that enjoy spreading illegal copies of games around, and that is where the problem lies. Luckily, with the right game copy software you can make working copies of your games and not worry about them getting scratched or destroyed.

When you copy PC games, you need to make sure that your software can decrypt the game data. This is important, because it allows you to transfer the data one to one when you burn it onto the new disc. This makes the difference between a working copy and a complete letdown.

If your game copy software cannot do this, you might be left with a surprise, some games will tease you and work to a certain point, others simply will not work at all.

Another good idea, and this is the one that will save you some money, don’t buy the most expensive discs. If your DVD drive can burn to normal quality DVDs, don’t waste your money on the high priced ones. The reason I say this is because the cheaper ones are usually more heavy duty, and they’re harder to scratch.

When it comes time to transfer the data to the blank medium, I recommend doing so at a slower speed. This will ensure that the files are accurately transferred, and you are less likely to have errors.

But as I have already said, this all depends greatly on the program you use. Not all of them are created equal, some will say they work, but they are outdated and only work on your older games. Others might not be able to make perfect 1:1 copies, if you use these, your backups will probably be full of errors, missing critical game data.

If you’re on the lookout for game copy software to make 1:1 copies, you can find one application on my website, GameCopy101.com. The price is right, it is cheaper than a new game, and it can copy games from all of the major gaming platforms.

How to Find the Best Role Playing Video Games Online

February 11, 2010

Every gamer is eternally looking for that next great thing, and for people who play role playing games, it’s even more so. Here’s an overview of sites and tools online to help you find the best role playing video games, whether they’re old, new, or not even released yet!

The first stop should always be mmorpg.com. This site has a comprehensive list of the best role playing video games (and the worst!). You can sort the games according to genre depending on whether your interested in sci-fi, horror, fantasy, or history, etc… You can also search according to release date, whether or not they allow player vs. player combat, and the rating the game has received. You can even search according to the amount of the monthly fee if you’re looking for free to play (f2p) games.

Once you’ve found a game that interests you, check out the on site review as well as the forums for that particular game. There are a lot of “forum trolls”, or people who love to cause drama, on the mmorpg.com site, but every little bit of info helps. Next, check out the game’s actual website. This should have forums as well, and the information will be much more up-to-date than that found on game review sites. If you’re still undecided, check out other gaming sites such as IGN.com and gamespot.com.

If you find reviews helpful, there is a company by the name of Gamerzines.com that can be extremely helpful. Gamerzines.com offers free electronic magazines (e-zines) for several different gaming platforms and gaming genres ranging from console or PC to mmorpg-specific. The e-zines are available to download free of charge and offer well done reviews and re-reviews of the latest games and expansions.

If you aren’t into playing with other people online, and prefer to go solo there are still online resources to help you find the best role playing video games. Websites like IGN.com and Gamespot.com both focus on reviewing all games, regardless of the platform or genre. These sites offer a huge assortment of reviews, previews, trailers, interviews and features. They also offer lists ranking games according to various criteria (usually editorial reviews).

IGN.com has an added bonus of offering various cheats and codes that may be useful if you’re an offline gamer. IGN also offers video footage of many of the games so you can take a look at it before you play. Once you’ve found the best role playing video game, IGN can probably help you find a guide or walk through for it as well!

For the truly hardcore gamer, looking for relentlessly brutal, in-depth reviews, check out http://www.eurogamer.net. While eurogamer does focus on European releases, their game reviews set the standard world-wide and have been known to weigh heavily in the success or failure of a game. Eurogamers also sorts games by platform and genre. They also offer reader-reviews of a game, so you can get an idea of what a non-professional gamer thought of your chosen game.

Klint is fairly new to the idea of writing articles online, and has been spending much of his time writing for his own sites. You can visit one of his latest projects over at http://furniturenightstands.net/

Warcraft Fishing Guide – Pointers to Help Reel in the Gold

September 2, 2009

Looking for a break from the sometimes hectic pace of World of Warcraft? If you are looking for a change of pace and a great way to acquire Warcraft gold, then fishing is your choice. Fishing, a secondary skill in World of Warcraft, offers you a chance to acquire essential gold and chat with other gamers. Here are some pointers to get you hooked on fishing in WoW.

To begin, you are going to need to find yourself a fishing trainer. Usually they are found near bodies of water. You will be able to get the basics to start fishing from them. In addition, you have to have the equipment to fish with. The basics, like a fishing pole, lures and baubles, and bait are available from merchants or tradespeople.

Fishing is very much like in real life. You head to the edge of a body of water, cast your line, and wait. Fishing in Warcraft requires patience and time. Sometimes you are lucky and catch fish right away, other moments, it can be tedious. Keep in mind that Warcraft fishing, as with real life fishing, is a chance to relax and enjoy the great outdoors.

The fishing skill goes along well with other skills and in combination will allow you to acquire more gold. For example, a lot of players don’t like to take the time to fish, and you can sell your raw and cooked fish to them. The cooking skill is a great compliment to fishing and when combined can be very profitable.

Besides catching fish, you can also chance upon getting valuable, and sometimes less valuable, other catches as well. Valuable items include gems, armor and weapons, even locked chests. Invaluable items, or junk, can include driftwood, an old boot, weeds, and an empty rum bottle. While catching junk might not seem useful, some of the junk items can bring you a good amount of profit.

Fishing is a very easy skill to acquire, but at the same time, with increased skill levels, can bring home the gold. The details on fishing in Warcraft are many and cannot be covered sufficiently here. Get more information that will have you reeling in gold through Warcraft Fishing Guide.

Be a Success With Zygors Leveling Guide

September 2, 2009

With the guarantee of achieving level 80 in no more than seven days, Zygors leveling guide’s are #1 best selling guides. has the distinction of being among the fastest leveling guides around.

The fact that the Zygors leveling guide is an in-game leveling guide means you don’t have to play World of Warcraft in a window or ALT+Tab in order to access your guide.

The in game guide shows the best leveling paths for both Horde and Alliance classes, new patches are updated constantly modifying the requirements for grinding

These in-game guides do not prescribe any qualification or discriminate among its players. And they are pretty detailed because everything was taken into consideration when making these guides.

Each class’ strengths and weaknesses were taken into account when compiling the list of quests and the order in which they are to be finished, because some quests that couldn’t be completed easily by some classes are left out of the bulk. This is not an issue due to the very large number of quests available in the game.

The in-game guide virtually guides you in every manner from showing you the place to go, the person to talk to and for what quests you should go in for and what to avoid. Also, leveling will be straightforward for you since all of this comprehensive information will be given to you only when you need it.

Until recently, World of Warcraft players had to depend on grinding to level up, there was no other way to gain the needed experience points once all available quests were finished.

These in-game guides are so sophisticated that they show you dots on the world map and also reveal before your next targetted mini-map.

You will also get an arrow on your screen that directs you where to go. Depending on how far you are from your goal the arrow will change color, green means you’re really close to the desired location, yellow means you’re within a medium distance and red means you are far away.

Zygors leveling guide’s are #1 best selling guides. will also automatically detect when you’ve finished a quest or step of the guide and will present you the next step.

For more information on Chloe Smith and using Zygors guide in the WOW please visit WOW Zygor Guide
